Try the S'mores Vegan Milkshake at Bunnie Cakes
Despite popular misconception, going plant-based doesn’t doom you to a life of dietary deprivation: there’s more to a plant-strong diet than lettuce and tofu. Milkshakes, for example.
A summer staple, these creamy, sweet treats are just as delicious when made with non-dairy ingredients. And at Miami’s first-ever vegan and gluten-free bakery, Bunnie Cakes, milkshakes are all the rage right now.
The newest addition to the Bunnie Cakes milkshake menu is a s’mores special. Rich, thick, and chocolatey, it’s topped with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and a graham cracker. It’s everyone’s favorite fireside treat — in a cup.
“We always celebrate the last month of summer with s'mores everything,” says Bunnie Cakes queen Mariana Cortez. “This year we decided to do a s'mores cake, cupcake, ice cream, donuts, brownie, fudge and of course we needed to also add the milkshake.
Cortez knows her way around a sweet treat. She first made a name for herself on Food Network's Cupcake Wars, where she wowed judges with her adorable, allergy-friendly cupcakes. Since then, her goodies have earned a huge following from herbivores and omnivores alike across South Florida — as well as some local awards. Bunnie Cakes earned the city’s top nod in 2016: Best Cupcake, according to the Miami New Times.
Bunnie Cakes’ milkshakes come in seven other flavors besides s’mores, including doughnut, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, green tea matcha, red velvet, and sunflower butter.
“The milkshakes have been so popular in the last months that it made sense for us to add the s'mores flavor to the menu,” Cortez adds. “It is so delicious that it will be added to the permanent milkshake menu.”
So even when summer’s over, s’mores milkshakes will be waiting. And, should you get hungry for something savory, Bunnie Cakes also offers plant-based paninis and sandwiches on site.
(Bunnie Cakes will also be setting up shop at Seed in November, so come festival day, save room for sweets!)
